Created with System Administrators who service large groups of workstations in mind, Yasu (Yet Another System Utility) was made to do a specific group of maintenance tasks quickly within a few clicks, rather than needing to endlessly type shell script commands in the Terminal application.

What Yasu Does
Yasu is a Cocoa application wrapper built with AppleScript Studio that allows system administrators, as well as standard users, to conveniently run various system level Unix shell scripts in order to perform maintenance routines and clear the various cache files used by OS X. Yasu was designed to be a simple, first line of attack for a workstation that has started "acting up." More often than not, a thorough purge of the cache files of a Mac will bring its behavior back into line.

What Yasu Doesn't Do
Yasu is not a solution for total system maintenance, and is not a replacement for the Unix 'cron' utility. While Yasu works quite well on its own for certain things, it should also be used with other utilities, such as DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro, in order to keep your system in optimal health. Click here for a great tutorial on how to integrate Yasu into a maintenance routine of your own.

The Yasu log keeps track of the date and time of each process, the verbose output of the scripts and any errors that may occur along the way.

Requirements:
OS X 10.4 and the BSD sub-system installed is required to run Yasu.
This version of Yasu will NOT run on systems prior to Tiger (10.4) - see Link 2 for Jaguar & Panther Versions
You must also know an administrator level password for the workstation for access to all maintenance options.

What's New:
Fxes a potential AppleScript error when the application quits while still trying to write to the preference file.
