MailTicker is a small application that sits in your menu bar and checks POP3 accounts in regular intervals for new messages.
The main motivation for me to write this was that Mail.app (as great as it is) sometimes cannot connect to my mail server and starts putting up error messages and jumping around in the Dock. I needed something small that at least has the option to turn off error messages, so this is what I came up with... ;-)
What's New:
Implemented a few feature requests:
Ticking can be turned off
The ticker speed is adjutable
The send time of a message can be displayed
Option to only show the name of the sender (that is, not the e-mail address) added
Added small badge showing the number of new messages
Optionally plays sound when there were no new messages on any account.
Requirements:
An internet connection
Access to a POP3 server.
