AliasList delivers what the Finder's "as alias list" coercion seems to offer, but in many cases fails to deliver. It patches the holes in alias list where it either results in an unwarrented error, or simply does not work and does not error.

There are several variations of the AliasList handler in the script. Pick one that best suits your script's needs and include it in your script. A test is included to demonstrate how much faster it works with Programmer's Tool.
