What's New:
The application now supports files with long file names (up to 255 characters).
Implemented PrintCertification within the product. This feature has two components: printer validation and print certification. See the Quick Start Guide for further details.
Added a feature for dynamic page sizing. Within the Printer Settings dialog you can now enter 0 or add a plus sign (+) to numbers in the paper size height. By doing this the paper height will be determined dynamically. This is useful when using the Auto Rotate feature with roll media. Or to add borders to to images of varying sizes when using roll media. See the Quick Start Guide for additional information on this feature.
Added a preference option to the RIP preferences within the ColorBurst RIP Preferences dialog. There is now an option to convert PANTONE Colors to process before correction. When checked this will convert all encountered PANTONE Colors to a CMYK equivalent for the chosen printer. This option corrects some problems encountered when printing files with PANTONE Colors and drop shadows or elements with transparency.
You can now install ColorBurst at each of the three user levels (Administrative, Standard or Managed). It can also be run at each of the three levels.
Reordered the initial column order to make the Pages column visible without scrolling to the right or reordering the columns.
Added a Linearization Warning dialog to warn users when all linearization values are lower than baseline values but by less than 3%. So there are now three possibilities when relinearizing: All values okay, low values, values too low. This new scheme allows users to be notified when the linearization values are low (but still within an acceptable range). This is important for PrintCertification.
SpectralVision has been replaced with SpectralVision Pro. The Pro version adds support for PrintCertification and additional hardware devices.
Altered the code to better recognize PDF files. Adobe Illustrator's native format is now PDF. ColorBurst will now recognize them as such.
Updated to the latest version of the PostScript interpreting engine. The new engine fixes occasional file processing problems.
Added a fix for an obscure bug having to do with line ending characters when processing a bitmap file (such as a TIFF or JPEG).
Fixed a problem where PDF files which had been rotated in a particular manner would not print (all blank).
Certain PDF files with embedded ICC Profiles would not process correctly through the RIP. They would print flat as if they were converted to CMYK using a "1-minus" conversion. This problem has been fixed.
Fixed a problem where embedded ICC Profiles were being used within certain PDF files even though the 'Use Embedded Profiles' checkbox was unchecked.
Fixed a problem when reading PS files smaller than 16K.
Fixed a problem where on European systems, the comma "," (thousands separator) and period "." (decimal point) are reversed. The code to read a linearization file did not take this into account.
The Printer and Ink & Color toolbar items will both be dimmed when there is not an Environment chosen within the Environment Toolbar menu.
If the input ICC Profile and proofer ICC Profile were equal it was possible for jobs to fail with a RIP Failure. This has been fixed.
Fixed a problem where at lower user levels (standard or managed) the registration dialog would continue to appear even though the registration process had been completed.
Fixed a problem where certain JPEG images (saved in PC data format) containing 'Exif' Tags were not importing with the correct data.
Altered the program so that users cannot close the main window. Users were closing the main window expecting the application to quit but it would just close the main window leaving the application running (this is standard for the Macintosh, but Windows users expect the application to quit). I also removed the New Window and Close Window menu items from the File menu.
Fixed a problem where the Printer Settings dialog box was checking the edit text validity even though the Use Page Settings checkbox was unchecked.
Altered the code to better handle processing files within the Hot Folder. When a "bad" file is encountered, it's moved to the Error Folder thereby preventing log jams. The bad file will be printed to the Console so the user is informed.
