Dictaphones are yesterday's news. Transcriva turns this mechanical chore into a natural, fluid process using the power of Mac OS X.
The unique chat-like interface produces a clean, concise transcript whether you're transcribing a single speaker's dictation or the Board's meeting minutes. The audio interface provides just the right amount of control. An adjustable playback speed lets you work more slowly for fast talkers and more quickly for slow ones, while the backtrack-on-pause feature lets you easily pick up where you left off without the guesswork.
Best of all, Transcriva's most common controls are keyboard-driven, allowing you to assign shortcuts to speakers for quick transcription, as well as control the playback without constantly reaching for the mouse. When you're finished, the export feature lets you open your transcript in any standard text editor, word processor, or layout tool - even CopyWrite!
Here are some key features of "Transcriva":
Lose The Dictaphone
Dictaphones are yesterday's news. Transcriva turns the mechanical chore of transcribing audio recordings into text into a natural, fluid process using the power of Mac OS X. The unique chat-like interface produces a clean, concise transcript whether you're transcribing a single speaker's dictation or the Board's meeting minutes. Transcriva accepts most any audio format supported by Apple QuickTime. Add a clip, press play, and start typing - the only thing easier is making someone else do it for you!
Familiar, Accessible Controls
The familiar audio interface provides just the right amount of control. Transcriva's most common controls are keyboard-driven, allowing you to assign shortcuts to speakers for quick transcription, as well as control the playback without constantly reaching for the mouse.
Comfortable Environment
In the Bartas tradition, Transcriva goes the extra mile, giving form and function equal treatment. All the features reserved for the 'Cadillacs' of Dictaphones are present in Transcriva - with a Mac twist.
An adjustable playback speed lets you work more slowly for fast talkers and more quickly for slow ones, while the backtrack-on-pause feature lets you easily pick up where you left off without the guesswork.
The Follow-Along feature keeps the transcript view synchronized with the playhead during playback and while moving the playhead with the mouse.
Pass It On
When you're ready to use a word processor or page layout tool to polish up your transcript for presentation, use the Export feature. Transcriva can export to standard Rich Text Format (rtf) or plain text (txt), which any word processor or layout application (such as Microsoft Word, or Apple Pages, TextEdit, and even CopyWrite) can read. Transcriva will not lock you in!
Who It's Meant For
Transcriva strikes a balance between automation and pricing. Other software applications can turn live or recorded speech directly into text automatically, but they cost an arm and a leg and are somewhat inaccurate. What's more, they can't identify different speakers - a human is still required. Transcriva still requires you to do the listening and typing, but it gives you maximum flexibility, a beautiful, easy-to-use interface, easy multiple speaker support and plenty of polish - all for an incredibly low price tag. If you don't need 'iffy' voice recognition (or don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on it) or you need multiple-speaker support, Transcriva is the solution you're looking for.
Try It Free
Transcriva is completely free to try with some limitations. Unregistered users can only have two audio clips in a transcript and only two speakers. The audio controls are disabled after twenty minutes of use (but can be reset by exiting and restarting Transcriva). Exported transcripts are also 'watermarked'. All of these limitations can be removed by purchasing a license and registering. This allows anybody to try Transcriva as long as they like, completely free.
Limitations:
Limited to no more than two speakers and two audio clips per transcript.
Audio controls are disabled after 20 minutes of use (but can be reset by restarting the application).
Exported transcripts are watermarked.
What's New:
This update adds Universal Binary support, programmable keyboard shortcuts, as well as various performance, stability, and user interface improvements.
This issue also fixes a problem where the seek and backtrack-on-pause features do not work correctly with some audio formats.
The update is free for registered users of version 1.0.x.
Requirements:
G4 processor recommended.
