Scrivener is a project management tool for writers that acts like your own little writing shed at the bottom of the garden, where you have cork notice-boards, ring-binders, photos, clippings paperclipped to jottings, notebooks and reams of typewritten pages piling up - along with a secretary who keeps it all in neat piles and uses his speed-reading skills to find what you need as soon as you need it.

Scrivener 1.0 is currently in development, with an expected release date of autumn 2006. Until then, you can download Scrivener Gold (a fully-functional freeware release of an early Scrivener beta version - bear in mind that Scrivener 1.0 will be very different in terms of interface, though) from the Free Stuff section.

Time-limited public beta previews of Scrivener 1.0 will be released on the forums towards the end of the summer. Information about the new version and development progress (not to mention some general irrelevant blathering) can be found on the Literature & Latte blog.

Limitations:
Demo betas expire in about a month.
