The PolyRingtone Converter is used to create SP_Midi compatible files, as used for ringtones in modern mobile phones, from standard Midi files which are freely available on the Web.
Why pay for Polyphonic ringtones when you can produce them yourself in minutes.
A standard Midi file contains a number of Midi tracks which must be played by an synthesizer (software or hardware). No account is taken on the capabilities of the synthesizer or the hardware on which it is to run. It is assumed that the synthesizer has the capability to process the midi file successfully.
An Sp-Midi file (Scaleable, Polyphonic) addresses the issue of the capabilities of the synthesizing device.
Polyphonic mobile phones vary greatly in their capabilities and can usually produce between 4 and 32 polyphonic notes at any one time.
A typical Midi file may have 32 or more notes sounding at any one time, therefore there needs to be some way of prioritizing tracks so that the phone knows which tracks to play and which to ignore.
SP-Midi addresses this issue by assigning priorities to each individual track (or Midi channel).
Limitations:
Until registered, the software will only create about 4 seconds of SP-Midi data.
What's New:
Workaround for a CoreAudio bug introduced in 10.3.9.
