NewsHunterFREE is the Usenet utility for OS X.

Here are some key features of "NewsHunter":
Easy Set Up will have new users downloading from newsgroups quickly and with minimal fuss.
Archer multimedia viewer technology accessible through the Player menu as well as from within NewsHunter documents.
Threaded decoding and assembly of files. NewsHunter does not have to wait for a file to be decoded and/or assembled before moving on the the next article. The threaded decoding system allows files to be decoded while NewsHunter continues to download from the newsgroup. Multi-part files are also assembled and decoded in their own threads.
Queue Articles window. You can perform multiple searches. Each search is then saved for future use. To run a saved search all you have to do is select it from the popup menu.
Download Queued Articles Only. You can tell NewsHunter to download only the articles you have queued and then stop. This new feature can be accessed by clicking the Document Options... button on your NewsHunter document and clicking on the Article Queues tab.
Friend Filters. Normally, you use filters to filter out articles. Friend filters are the opposite of regular filters. To create a friend filter, simply make a new filter as you normally would then click the Friend Filter checkbox. This reverses the behavior of the filter. You can use friend filters to, for example, scan an entire newsgroup and download only the files whose email address matches the one in your filter.
Disable Decoding. The Decoding tab now has a checkbox that lets you turn off NewsHunter's internal decoding methods. When you do this, NewsHunter will simply download everything to the Raw Files folder associated with the newsgroup. You are then free to decode the files in any manner you like.
Lightweight news reader. NewsHunter provides an independently threaded news reader. This allows you to do some light news reading while you download binaries. The News Reader tab lets you quickly read any newsgroup listed on the Home tab. You can also post articles.
Convenient tabbed interface. NewsHunter has an easy to use, tabbed interface. Everything you need to retrieve, view, and manage the files you download is only a couple of clicks away.
Automatic folder creation. NewsHunter automatically creates folders based on the name of the newsgroups you download from. Inside the Decoded Files folder (which is in the same folder as your NewsHunter application by default) you will now find a folder that is named after each newsgroup. If you subscribe to alt.binaries.pictures.astro you will find a folder named abp.astro in the Decoded Files folder. All the files downloaded from alt.binaries.pictures.astro will be found in the abp.astro folder.
Self-healing folders. NewsHunter can now recreate the path to any folder in real time. This means you can drag the entire Raw Files folder to the trash and NewsHunter will re-create it - and any child folders - as they become needed.
Easy File Management. Using the Decoding tab of NewsHunter, you can go though a list of all the files that have been downloaded. You can cursor through the list and display each image. While viewing images, you can quickly delete a file simply by hitting the "D" key.
Synchronize newsgroups command.
Newsgroup Subscription tab makes managing newsgroups easy.
Recent Document menu remembers the last five NewsHunter documents you accessed.
Support for StuffIt Expander as MIME decoder.
Support for yEnc files.
Disable MIME decoding.
Disable yEnc decoding.
Disable UU Decoding.
NewsHunter implements Regular Expressions in the download engine to increase the efficiency with which multipart files are detected
NewsHunter supports picture uploads. Select the pictures you want to upload from a gallery of thumbnails, click a button, and NewsHunter posts the pictures to the newsgroup of your choice. You can even include a different text tag that will appear before and after each image that is posted.
Persistent article queues. NewsHunter remembers all the articles you have queued in all the newsgroups and on all the news servers you access. If you have to quit NewsHunter or if there is a crash, you can rest easy knowing that all the queues will still be there next time you run NewsHunter.
Multiple News Servers. Have accounts on several news servers? NewsHunter has no problem managing all your news accounts.
Newsgroup Cycling. Don't want to download all the files in a newsgroup before moving on to the next one? NewsHunter solves this problem by letting you download a few files from each newsgroup in a round robin fashion. And if you access more than one news server, NewsHunter will let you cycle through the servers as well.
Automatic assembly of multipart posts. NewsHunter will assemble and decode multipart posts even if the parts arrive out of order, days apart, or from different servers.
Easy to Use Filtering Options. NewsHunter not only has an easy-to-use, single-click filter option but it also has a flexible Filter Manager.
Image Preview section displays images as they are downloaded.
NewsHunter even includes a MasterSplitter utility to join files segmented on Windows-based machines.
Clear Decoded Files List - On the Decoding tab, there is a new option that lets you control how often the Decoded Files list should be cleared. In previous versions the list of decoded files could only be cleared by clicking the Clear List button. If you ran NewsHunter over night, the list would get very long. This would eventually slow the program down. You can now configure NewsHunter to clear the list after downloading a set number of files
NewsHunter 2.0.11 now includes a preference that lets you delete the raw file after an attached binary has been decoded. Turn this preference on to not only save hard disk space but to increase performance as well. To enable the preference open the NewsHunter Preferences window. You should delete the Raw Files folder as well since there may be left over files in there already. The Raw Files folder is inside your NewsHunter folder by default.
Compact Database - The Utilities menu now has a "Compact Database" command. The longer you run NewsHunter, the larger the database becomes. Use this command to compact the database periodically.
And More. Over 300 improvements, changes, and fixes over the NewsHunter 1.x releases.

What's New:
This is our final release of NewsHunter2. It is now free. However, you still have to register your copy to make the nag screens go away.
Because NewsHunter3 has been released this will be the final release of NewsHunter 2.x.
