This is a tool for fixing LDIF files exported from Netscape Communicator 4.x.If you're like me, you used to be addicted to Netscape Communicator under OS 9. I used to keep all my address book contacts, e-mail and bookmarks using just that. Unfortunately, this is just no longer feasible using Netscape on Mac OS X. Now, I quite like Apple's tools: Mail, Safari and Address Book.
Migrating information can be tricky though and I still use Netscape Communicator under OS 9 to centralize my contacts and bookmarks (for exporting to various OS 9 and OS X applications and backups).
When Netscape Communicator exports LDIF files, it doesn't handle hard line breaks within the notes section properly. This causes the files to not be imported properly by Address Book. This program fixes that.
It should work in both OS X and OS 9.Double-click to launch the application and select an LDIF file to fix. Alternatively, just drop an LDIF file or a folder containing LDIF files on the application and it will ask where you want to save each file.
It makes a copy of the file, so I'm fairly certain no corruption is possible. Still, you should work with a copy of the LDIF file just in case. I can't and won't be held responsible if something horrible goes wrong. But do let me know if it does, so I can figure out what happened and why. And maybe be able to repair the damage.
