Intelligent Files allows you to change ownership and permissions with ModFile in one easy to use utility that allows you to see the current setting and the change settings at the same time.

Change only ownership or permissions and use the RECURSIVE feature to change everything in a directory.
Complete drag and drop, small footprint, and minimize makes ModFile always available.

Here is an easy way to modify your files so they have the correct Owner, Group, and permissions on your system. Nickel Plated Modfile allows you to drag and drop any file or folder onto the window, select the Owner and Group from pull down menus and with the click of a button apply your choices.

The unique permissions drawer can be used to view current permissions and apply new ones. If you use the RECURSIVE feature then the new permissions, as well as your Owner/Group specifications are applied to all files and folders within the current directory.

What is especially nice is that the permissions drawer illustrates the current permissions of the file or folder with small bullets at the top. To the left is the actual CHMOD value you would use if you used the terminal window. The nine checkboxes for the three Read, Write, Execute (RWX) groups that assign permissions to the Owner, Group, and Everyone can be set manually... or with the click of a button you can transfer the current settings to those checkboxes and then modify them.

If Apply Permissions is checked then when you click on the file icon in the main window your new permissions will be applied to the file or folder.

What is unique about Mod File is that it lets you veiw all the current settings as well as those that will be applied. You can readily see the current permissions as well as the current Owner and Group.

Preferences allow you to keep your password so that you don't have to continually authenticate your changes. There is also an option to prompt you before changes. You can also see the full path to your file or folder by Command Clicking the dragged item's icon in the main window.
