Gene's Recipe Cards is an easy to use cooking aid for organizing recipes.
If you're like me, you have some favorite recipes that you only have one copy of. I have lived in dread of losing my favorite chicken recipe, or spilling egg on my favorite roll recipe, or oil or water on that marinade recipe I'm so fond of. In the best case situation the recipe can be copied, if it doesn't smear or get stained. Still, it can be painful copying the recipes over when the dreaded spill happens.
What about sharing recipes? If my cousins ask for Grandma's croissant recipe, I have to find time for copying the recipe. Then there's always the chance that I will forget an ingredient or instruction and have to start over.
That is why I wrote my Recipe cards program. I wanted to be able to organize my recipes electronically in an easy way. I wanted simple quick access to them. I wanted it to be easy to make copies of them for emailing or posting on the web. I wanted to be able to print a new copy of the recipe whenever I cooked, or spilled on the old copy.
This program turned out to be so nice and easy to use for organizing my favorite recipes, I thought I'd make it available to other people too. I hope you find it as useful as I have.
Here are some key features of "Gene's Recipe Cards":
Gene's Recipe Cards allows you to organize your recipes in eight re-namable categories for quick access and browsing.
You may take digital pictures of your recipes and include them to refresh your memory of the recipe later.
You can rank your recipes to quickly help you recognize your favorites. You can print your recipes. You can share your recipes in both the custom *.RCF format and in the common *.TXT for sharing with both Gene's Recipe Cards users and others who don't yet have the program.
These formats can be emailed or placed on the internet.
You can also quickly add new recipes by typing or simply open them if they are in *.RCF format and they will be added to your cards program automatically.
I've also included a few of my favorite recipes as a bonus.
