Fetch-O-Matic is a synchronization and maintenance scheme for Web site file transfer updates. It allows authors of large Web sites to create and update files locally, while it automatically catalogs the alterations.

Fetch-O-Matic generates lists of files requiring action and stores these lists in the To Upload and To Download files.

Because Fetch-O-Matic operates by consulting a central log file, which contains only paths and file names, no machine involved in site work needs to have a complete copy of the site.
