QMediaLight is a subset of QMedia: easy to use, self contained and affordable. Its mission is to enable playback of QuickTime media, plus to provide customization options for the movie controller.

QMediaLight is designed for developers who need the wealth of QuickTime-supported media in their 4D databases, but don't need to get into movie editing, sequence grabbing, tracks, pan and tilt angles, nodes, hotspots and all that stuff.

QMediaLight adds multimedia awareness to 4D in a simple yet powerful way. It can display all supported formats of still images, as well as play back standard movies, VR movies, streaming movies, Flash animations and animated GIFs, sounds, music, and more.

QMediaLight supports playback from both disk files and Internet URLs (using the http://, ftp://, rtsp:// and file:// protocols) and its plug-in area setup can be done with a few clicks on the Advanced Properties Dialog.

Limitations:
Without a license key the plug-ins work in evaluation mode for 30 min, enough to see how they work or even run a demo. For another 30 min, restart 4D.

What's New:
4D 2003.2 changed the way it draws plug-in areas and this caused update problems in the movie plug-in area. Fixed.
Identified and corrected a potential issue where the developer license would not be copied to the compiled structure when building compiled or standalone applications with 4D 2003.x.
Restored compatibility with Win NT/SP6a.
Long path names are now supported on Win NT.
It was possible to crash on 4D Server when a client was logging out if at that time the licenses dialog was open. Fixed.

Requirements:
4D 6.06 through 2004.
