Mnemosyne is a password generator. It doesn't generate random passwords. Instead, passwords are generated based on a key and an user name.

If you remember the key you can recreate any password for any user name you have created somewhere along the way.

This app is an enhanced clone of the old pre-OS X freeware "Guarddogg" from 1996 but it uses another encryption algorithm. Therefore you can not recreate old Guarddogg passwords with this application.
