In Worms Blast you have to travel around the world, making your way to a volcanic island in the centre of the ocean. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Well, there is a catch - between each location there are cunningly designed missions that you must undertake before being allowed onto the next location.
As a single player, you have a choice of levels including 'Star Collect', which is the same principle as a trolley-dash in a supermarket, and 'Laser' which is a surreal scenario featuring pink coloured bouncy blocks.
OK, single player missions are cool, but everyone likes to bash another player, be it human or the good old AI. So there are plenty of multiplayer game modes to keep even the most competitive player happy.
Each multiplayer mode tests you in a variety of ways - from a relatively friendly multiplayer version of 'Star Collect' to the outright vicious 'Deathmatch' which we're sure needs no explanation. Choose the mode, choose your characters, and let the blasting begin!
Worms Blast is based on shooting a coloured bazooka at various coloured blocks. If the colours match, the block is destroyed, along with all connecting blocks of the same colour.
Blocks come in also sorts of shapes and sizes. Standard blocks are probably the only ones you've got a good mental picture of right now, so feel free to let your thoughts wander to the possibilities of Dead blocks, Bouncy blocks, Anchor blocks, and lovely Rainbow blocks.
Aside from the bazooka, there are other weapons - grenades, fused dynamite, cutting lasers and a shotgun. These can be found hidden in crates 'locked' into the landscape.
After a blast, land can become 'disconnected', causing it to shake and then fall. The period of time for which it shakes depends on the number of blocks in the falling section - although, like most of this game, there are exceptions to the rule!
So while there are these basic rules to make you feel at home, they have only been put there to be bent and twisted, and these exceptions occur mainly in the missions to keep them varied and, well, bizarre.
Here are some key features of "Worms Blast":
8 captivating multiplayer modes to pit your wits against either another human or the computer.
10 highly addictive gamemodes.
An arsenal of over 20 special weapons, utilities and gadgets.
A bunch of outrageous characters to choose from, each with their own quirky set of skills and weeknesses.
A tutorial section to train up even the most gun-shy beginner.
