unpkg is a utility that simply unpacks all the files in a Mac OS X package (.pkg file) into a folder. Very handy, and GNU GPL free too!
Here are some key features of "unpkg":
fast, no non-sense unpacking
easy drag-'n'-drop interface
doesn't require passwords of any sort
simple text output
accepting of many places for the actual archive in the package
pretty icon
spinning status indicator! wheee!
unpacking of files to a folder named after the package, either in:
the same directory as the package, if possible
or the Desktop, if the package folder is non-writable (on disk images, for example)
good package detection (no trying to expand something that's not a package)
licensed under then GNU GPL.
What's New:
now a Universal Binary!
completely new interface: no more text output, but pretty Cocoa dialogs and progress bars
dialog boxes instead of text output
file selection dialogs if no package is dragged onto unpkg's icon
more file selection dialogs if unpkg can't save the file in the chosen location
prettier error messages.
What's New:
Fixes for possible security holes. Thanks, Cameron!
Makes explicit the fact that this is released under the GNU GPL.
