Now available: the incredible new OS X native version 5.0, including Audiomaton 1.5.1! Awesome new features include fully-integrated support for multichannel (i.e., more than two channels) sounds, playback of sample rates > 65 khz (including 96 kHz, 192 kHz, and even higher), CoreAudio input/output, direct saving with QDesign and PureVoice compressions, QuickTime movie capturing (including audio-only movies for those of you without video inputs), markers, and too many more to list!
Die-hard Classic users, don't fret -- unlike our (ahem) competition, we haven't abandoned you! There's a 100% pure Classic Mac version (in other words, no Carbon required) which has all the same great features as the OS X version. (Except for a few things like CoreAudio support, because of course CoreAudio is only available on X.) Yes, that's right -- we made it so the Sound Manager can play back 192 kHz sounds! (No easy trick, that.) Those of you running a computer lab with older Macs should definitely take a look at SndSampler. We offer discounts to educational institutions.
Here are some key features of "SndSampler":
Fully functional with 8, 16, 24, and 32 bits, multichannel up to 32 channels, sample rates of 96 kHz, 192 kHz, and above
Allows you to record audio data directly to your hard drive so you can create sounds bigger than RAM (great for dictation or recording live music shows)
Open/save: Sun, NeXT, WAVE, QuickTime movies, raw audio, ASCII/Unicode text, split stereo, more
Imports CD audio directly from the CD (simply use File->Open on a CD track)
Can play thousands of audio files in succession when you drop them on the application's icon
In conjunction with the helper application Audiomaton (separate registration required) can process thousands of audio files in "batch mode"
Allows synching of sounds to QuickTime movies via an easy-to-use yet powerful Movie Editor
Data compression: MACE 3:1, MACE 6:1, u-Law 2:1, A-Law 2:1, IMA 4:1, QDesign Music 2, Qualcomm PureVoice
Special fx: echo; eight varieties of reverb; chorus; flanger; pitch bend; a 12-band, fully-customizable equalizer; dynamic pan; dynamic fade; tremolo; wah-wah; distortion; Butterworth, Chebyshev, notch, and FIR filters; etc.
