rBackup is a command-line program that uses a whole new approach to backup formats. It stores the backups on disk images, and uses shadow files to perform differential updates. A shadow file can be thought of as an "overlay" that allows you to add files to an existing disk image without modifying it. This allows you to create differential backups in a MUCH smaller file, while leaving the original full backup in its original condition.
This program is currently command-line only, and can be scheduled to run automatically using cron. A GUI version will be available in the future. Read more on my website.
What's New:
Added GUI Interface (using Pashua)!!!
added showfiles option - this causes rbackup to print a list of all files that would be copied, without actually performing the backup. ( Note: this will create an empty shadow file if run in diff mode )
Fixed bug where the images created by date backups were not stored properly.
Requirements:
rsync that supports HFS+ (included in RsyncX).
