Solution: Audible and Visual alerts from Power Check.

Uses Growl (requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later) and Play Sound for extra functionality, but they are not required.

What's New:
All new config setup during first time the application is run. Now stores preferences. User selectable audible alert.
