With MailTags installed, you can add comments, due dates, projects and priority to your messages right inside your mail viewer window. You can then this metadata as the basis for Spotlight searches, Smart Mailboxes, and Mail Rules. For example, you can create a Smart Mailbox that will show you all messages in project: "Great Novel" that have a due date in the next three days.
MailTags also integrates with Mail Act-On to allow tagging of message via simple keystrokes, or by rules for receiving mail. For example, create an Act-On rule for the d key that will defer the due date of the message for 5 days.
What's New:
This is mainly a maintenance release fixing some issues with Public Beta 1, particularly with IMAP syncing, iCal linking, Rule applications, and interface issues. More features will be added for Public Beta 3
IMAP Sync
Updating tags will now preserve any IMAP keywords if they are used on the server
If server supports IMAP keywords, message dates will behave better.
Fixed issue where tagging a colored message would remove color.
Fixed issue causing duplicates with large messages and retagging message before it is fully updated.
sequential edits to the tags of the message are now queued.
Fixed issue where sync was sometime causing a "_runThread exception" and stalling.
iCal sync
You can now use unicode characters in ical items and in Calendar
Changes in iCal will now properly be updated in MailTags.
use of enclosing brackets in message:// url in now optional
eg message:// 34e52432ab832@indev.ca
will be handled same as
message://
iCal links for messages without message-ids (generally drafts and sent-mail) will use file://...emlx url in the iCal.
Interface
Listview now updates immediately when tagging messages via contextual menu
Fixed issue where updating a message change the viewed message in all existing single message viewers to the updated message
Fixed GUI weirdness in keyword panel.

Now properly installs over top of old installations.
Preferences
Reorganized:
Due date and Priority Tab renamed "Color"
iCal Tab renamed "Calendar"
Color order moved to Color Tab
Default Due Date move to Calendar Tab
Sort on Keywords and preferences is now case insensitive.
Added preference for expansion of disclosure views
When set to off, the disclosures view will hide when they contain no data
All views will expand on composing messages or tagging message (Command-Control-T)
Changing colors of projects now has immediate effects
Registration
Compose window no longs shows registration button when properly registered
Preferences now provides better feedback when the registration key is entered (correctly, or incorrectly)
Public Beta expiry extended to October 21

Rules application more robust, especially when rule moves a message and/or has non-MailTags actions.

Smart mailbox due date settings now properly limits due dates searches to midnight the day of

Fixed several deadlock issues involving debug logging.
