lineStripper does just that! Basically it opens a text file and takes out all duplicate lines where ever they may be in the file. File must be plain text, sorry.

I used it on my mailing list file, because it's always the case that people get on it more then once, and that made them angry. But now I don't have a mailing list anymore, so I am sad. This program is all that remains.

What's New:
This added the requested "progressive" feature- as I failed miserably to get it right the first time! (Not a bug or anything, mind you, it just didn't completely understand what the customer wanted. My fault.)
Still, it could be useful, so progressive stays, and the actually requested "weed" function was added.
