LeoService lets you highlight a piece of text in most applications and send it as a lookup query to an URL of your choice.

The name is owed to the default setting, the dict.leo.org dictionary service. It is accompanied by a preference pane that lets you configure the URL and keyboard shortcut.

Completly freeware for non-commercial use.
