iTuneMyWalkman is an iTunes script that will synchronize a playlist called iTuneMyWalkman to your Sony Ericsson Walkman phone. The playlist can be either a regular one or a smart playlist.
The script can also automatically detect when you connect your phone, and will ask you if you want to synchronize. When the files have been copied, you can Eject the phone.
Albums with various artists will go under the artist entry "Various Artists" on the phone instead of all the individual artists. Tracks from the same album, but from artists such as "Apocalyptica" and "Apocalyptica & Manu" both go under "Apocalyptica".
The tracks can be re-encoded on the fly and can be stored either inside artist/album, playlist, or genre based folders on the phone.
Here are some key features of "iTuneMyWalkman":
Synchronizes the contents of specific iTunes playlists to your mobile phone/other device.
Detects automatically when the device is connected.
Creates directory structure according to information for artist/album, playlist or genre.
User can define how much space is left on the memory card.
Copied files can be re-encoded on the fly to save space.
Play counts can be incremented automatically when songs are transferred.
Pictures and videos taken with the phone camera can be automatically moved to a user-specified location on your hard disk or imported to iPhoto during synchronization.
Requirements:
A mobile phone/other portable device that can be mounted on the Mac OS X desktop, either with a direct cable or with a memory card reader
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or greater
iTunes 7 or greater
What's New:
The synchronized playlists can now be specified by the user and do not need to start with "iTuneMyWalkman" or "iTMW".
Support for the new Album Artist tag in iTunes 7.
Smarter handling of thumbnail images on S60 phones.
