Intaglio is a traditional Macintosh drawing & illustration application exclusively for Mac OS X. Patterned after the original Macintosh drawing applications, Intaglio is intuitive to beginners and familiar to traditional Macintosh users. Intaglio builds on the 2D graphics, text, color, and scripting capabilities of Mac OS X to provide unprecedented power and flexibility in an inexpensive drawing program.
Intaglio isn't just compatible with with Mac OS X, it was designed from the ground up to fully exploit the capabilites that make this platform ideal for graphics work. Naturally Intaglio is great for casual users, but it is also an ideal tool for experienced graphics experts who need special features or want a simpler experience than what is provided by the usual multi-platform graphic franchises.
Intaglio converts most ClarisDraw files to native Intaglio graphics.
This finally provides a native Mac OS X solution for people who have a large collection of ClarisDraw drawings. Since Intaglio adopts a similar user interface philosophy to traditional drawing applications like ClarisDraw, it's also easy for old ClarisDraw users to get started right away. Intaglio doesn't currently support ClarisDraw's "connector" lines or exotic text flow options. However it does convert QuickDraw PICT files to native Quartz graphics, providing another alternative for old drawings from just about any classic Macintosh drawing application.
Here are some key features of "Intaglio":
Graphic Styles
Word processors frequently allow a user to define several "styles" in a document to define the appearance of the text in that style. By changing a style, the user can change the appearance of all the text using that style in a single step. Intaglio brings this same concept to graphics with the addition of graphic styles to documents. Any change to a style in an Intaglio document, will also change all of the graphics using that style.
PDF Conversion
Intaglio converts most PDF images into native Intaglio graphics for editing (requires Mac OS X 10.3). Since PDF is the standard vector graphics exchange format for Mac OS X, this allows Intaglio to edit graphics received from many other applications. Conversion of text is currently limited to PDF fonts encoded as standard Latin or Unicode and PDF color spaces must conform to those supported by Intaglio (i.e., RGB, CMYK, and Gray).
Effects
Effects are vector and bitmap operations that produce the appearance of things like shadows, glows, and 3D lighting (requires Mac OS X 10.3). They're great for adding impact to an otherwise "flat" drawing.
Limitations:
You can't save drawings.
LinkBack is disabled.
Printed drawings contain an "unlicensed" watermark.
Drawings exported as PDF or bitmap images contain an "unlicensed" watermark.
Intaglio now runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel versions. The Universal version requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 and QuickTime 7.0 or later for PowerPC or 10.4.7 or later for Intel.
What's New:
Fix import of files through the file open dialog.
Improve ClarisDraw, PDF, and SVG import and/or export functions.
Improve MacDraw import.
Miscellaneous bug fixes.
