HDF is a Scripting Addition, i.e. a plug-in for AppleScript. HDF offers commands for reading, creating and writing HDF Scientific Data Sets (the format by NCSA).

HDF ships with an AppleScript library for Smile, HDFLib. HDFLib offers additional high-level commands for working with HDF files.

Completly freeware.
