GURL Watcher is a faceless background application that silently watches the web sites displayed in a browser. Just place this small appication in your extensions folder, turn it on with the Setup Utility, and that's it.
GURL Watcher observes sites visited by Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator and Navigator, iCab and Opera browsers.
It then silently records all sites visited and can either save these URLs in a designated file or email them to a designated email address. Watch what children, spouses, and employees are doing when online.
It is not compatible with AOL's browser. Not yet OS X compliant.
Here are some key features of "GURL Watcher":
Efficient logging of the Title and URL of pages accessed from Safari, Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, and iCab browsers.
More than one browser can be running at a time.
Log can be saved to a file and/or sent to designated email address at preset intervals.
Limitations:
The GURL Watcher executable will operate for one hour periods in trial mode.
What's New:
Bug Fix: GURL Watcher can now be force quit from the GURL Watcher Setup application by simply turning it off once, then again using the "Turn Off" button (that is click the "Turn Off" button twice, with a slight pause between clicks).
This will eliminate some "hanging" problems which can be experienced if a SMTP server is not currently available and you want to immediately terminate the background application.
Requirements:
A PowerPC Macintosh with an Internet connection.
A popular internet browser (Safari, Netscape Navigator/Communicator, Internet Explorer, iCab or Opera). No AOL browser support at this time.
A direct way to send email via your ISP's SMTP server (if you wish to receive URL reports via email).
