Guillotine is a simple AppleScript Studio droplet which will make any application dropped upon it executable. This is useful if, after transferring programs from computer to computer, the executable bit is not preserved.

Your applications do not have the executable bit enabled if, after double clicking the icon, the application starts to appear in the Dock, but then disappears promptly.

To use Guillotine, simply drop the application you wish to make executable onto Guillotine's icon. The droplet will make the application executable.

Note - this problem usually only occurs with bundled applications. To tell if your application is bundled, control-click on the application's icon, and if "Show Package Contents" appears in the list of choices, the application is bundled.
