Panther introduced built-in Fax receiving, but has no mechanism for alerting the user that a Fax has arrived. Until they make one, here's an easy way of doing this by installing a folder action script.
Fax Alert Installer is a simple folder action script that alerts you when a Fax arrives in your configured Fax folder.
Unless you choose not to, after 60 seconds the new Fax is opened in Preview.
