EMUlaunch is front-end application used for launching games on fifteen popular emulators on the Mac.

It displays screenshot and box art for each game in a TV friendly interface.

EMUlaunch is simply a means to display file listings and artwork for your roms and emulators. It facilitates the opening of your games from one simple interface. It does not contain the actual roms or emulators. It is an application launcher.

For more information as to where to download emulators on the Mac I suggest visiting EMUSCENE.COM. Please respect the hard work by those who have created these games, you should own the games for any roms on your computer.

Known issues

MacMAME files are not supported when located on an external drive. Japanese and other Uni-character screenshots will not display. An update will resolve these issues in the future.

EMUlaunch by default looks for roms and screenshots in the same manner as MacMAME. I decided to make this the default in order to make the configuration screen as small as possible. Having to choose folders for roms, screenshots and box art for 15 different emulators would make an incredibly long configuration process.

That being said you can override these values found in ~/Library/Preferences/EMUlaunch-games.xml and ~/Library/Preferences/EMUlaunch-mame.xml. Each console has a line like this which gets written when you use the configuration screen:

atari root=”/Hardrive/Applications/Games/Atari/roms/” picroot=”/Hardrive/Applications/Games/Atari/screenshots/” boxroot=”/Hardrive/Applications/Games/Atari/box/”

Simply replace the paths with the location of your roms.

Requirements:
G4 1GHz or better.

What's New:
Processor use when EMUlaunch is in the background has been significantly decreased. EMUlaunch now hovers around 0-2.5% (on my Powerbook G4 1ghz) when in the background after it has launched a rom file.
