Duplicate Catcher is an easy to use application that can identify & remove the duplicate files that are wasting space on your hard disk. Not only can it match up files that are identical based on properties like; name, size, contents, date created, date modified, extension, type or creator and ID3 tags for music (register users only), it can find files that are similar so old copies/alternate versions of files can be removed.

Duplicate Catcher allows files to be matched based on any combination of file name, size, contents and creation date.

In standard mode Duplicate Catcher operates in much the same manner as it did in previous versions, while taking advantage of the new performance/gui improvements and bug fixes.

It allows for the inclusion or exclusion of invisible files, package contents (e.g. resourses in an OS X application) or files whose sizes are less or greater than any given size.

Once identified, groups of similar files and their individual members can be examined in the "Search Results" window. The individual files can be revealed in the Finder by double clicking on their entries.

Duplicate Catcher now has an "Advanced" mode which is enabled by a license key.

Advanced mode permits all the same operations of standard mode and adds the ability to match files based on file extension, date modified, HFS type & creator codes - and now even ID3 tags for music files (song title, artist and album are currently supported). Filtering options are also improved; lists of file extensions HFS types and creator codes can now be added as criterea for files inclusion in or exclusion from the match process; aliases and symlinks can be ignored; and greater control over file sizes is possible.

Along with these improvements, advanced mode enables the use of the "Move to Trash" button in the search results window. With this you can select any file or files you deem unnecessary and instantly move them to the Finders trash can without ever leaving Duplicate Catcher.

Limitations:
Some of the advanced features are disabled.
