CipherDisk is a tool to hide, encrypt, and password protect your hard disks, CD's, DVD's and other types of storage. If you select a volume then click "Convert", it will encrypt/encipher all of the data on your chosen disk using highly secure encryption, and make it invisible until you enter your password.
Without your password, nobody can access your encrypted disk no matter what tools they use, or who they are. The only difference you will see in your disks is a password will be required to mount them (make them appear on your desktop). If you shut down the computer or put it into sleep mode, the encrypted disks are automatically hidden and made inaccessible until you launch CipherDisk and enter your password.
CipherDisk encryption methods were developed by publicly recognized world leading cryptography experts. It is secure enough to stop anyone from being able to access your data, making this tool suitable for anyone, from the home user wanting to keep a diary secret, to professionals wanting to ensure that their data will be kept private no matter what happens.
Because the encryption is volume based, no information about what is on your disks can be obtained. From your filenames down to what kind of documents your disks contain, it is all unknown without your password when CipherDisk is used.
Even with such features and the performance, CipherDisk is extremely straightforward to use. The whole operation can be completed with a few clicks.
Written specifically for Mac OS X, CipherDisk includes powerful features that give a user greater flexibility and control in copying devices and volumes:
Here are some key features of "CipherDisk":
Support for CD/DVD - CipherDisk can now create and burn password protected CDs and DVDs without the use of third party applications. These disks are fully encrypted and are as easy to use as a normal CD/DVD (except of course you have to know the password to use them).
Support for Disk Images - CipherDisk can create and use disk images (also known as virtual volumes). Standard size images and dynamically resized images can be created simply. These disk images are a file on your disk until you "mount" them. Once mounted it operates as a normal disk
Support for AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) - In our continuing effort to integrate the latest technologies we have added AES to the encryption methods.
Easy-to-use interface simplifies the encryption process to a few clicks.
Transparent operation using low level drivers.
