Ever had an error number thrown up by an application, only to have no idea what it's all about? Well, there used to be a wee program for the Mac in the days before OS X, called MacErrors. You could launch it, punch in the error number and you'd get some description of the error. If you look hard enough, the application still exists and still works inside the Classic environment, but you do still have to wait for Classic to load up if it's not already running!
Given that I'd completely forgotten about the program until someone asked about an error number -127, I'll probably find that no-one actually needs to use this new improved Cocoa version of it. Nevertheless, here it is, FREE, for your pleasure! In all honesty, the main reason I wrote it is so that I could get some idea of what it was like to release a program to the general public and have people actually use it! I've written a few programs before, but none that I've taken enough time over to make usable for anyone else! :-)
Unfortunately, there are still a number of error codes in there that have no official description and I can't offer any more information on them. If you have any constructive criticism, ideas for the next version or descriptions of unexplained error codes please let me know (either here or in the forums). Likewise, get in touch if you would like the source code or have created an icon you think might be suitable. I'm no artist by any stretch of the imagination! I do hope you like CarbonErrors and find it useful.
What's New:
Updated for OS X 10.3 (always worked for me, but not for everyone apparently!).
Also now disposes of "About" box properly.
