By leveraging the power of the FCP XML format, BWF2XML allows FCP to seamlessly import BWF files, complete with metadata and timecode.
BWF2XML is an utility that converts mono or polyphonic BWFs to a format that allows FCP to see all metadata of the original file.
The current version of BWF2XML does double check for system version and QT version, so polyphonic BWFs with more than 2 channels will be ignored when the QT version is below version 7.
The app does not know or care about what version of FCP is installed. FCP 4.5 does only support 2 channel polyphonic BWFs - so that might be an issue for you; FCP will parse the XML correctly but won't connect the files and in case you try it, there will errors. The current version also includes the possibility to use version 2 of Final Cut Pro XMLs. So multiple mono files can merged into a single clip. There is also an option to do a level and pan setup as it was available in the original BUII.
Limitations:
14 days fully functional period.
What's New:
More "secure" converting to self-contained files - hopefully
Fixes a bug with "Reel" settings.
Requirements:
Apple PowerMac G4 (the faster the better).Even an old iMac will work, but it is pretty slow.
256 MB RAM (more=better)
MacOS X 10.4 or higher /10.3 for BWFs with 2 channels or less
QuickTime 7.0 or higher / 6.4 for BWFs with 2 channels or less
FCP 5.0 or higher / 4.1 or higher for XML V1 Features.
