Buddy Status is a simple Dashboard widget for Mac OS X v10.4 which will display the name of a buddy from your iChat buddy list in a color which indicates their current status. This gives you access to your buddy’s status with the press of a single key! You can have as many Buddy Status widgets on your Dashboard as you want, for as many different buddies as you want. Clicking on your buddy’s name opens an iChat IM window to them (if they are online). Hovering over the name displays the buddy’s status message as a tool tip.
