Breakage raises the bar for live drum machine programming and performance. Where traditional step sequencers edit one note at time, Breakage adds neural network and pattern morphing functions to allow composition above the note level.

Breakage is an artificially intelligent drum machine which learns from trends in your rhythms so it can accompany your drumming.

Patterns are written in a step sequencer grid and a neural network is set to learn relationships between drums. After training, the network can accompany your drum programming in real time.

For example: you write five patterns with kick, snare, closed and open hi hat channels, train the network to relate the kick + snare and closed + open hats. Now the hi-hats automatically respond to changes you make on the kick + snare channels.

It makes more sense when you see it in action, so please download and try it out. Join the mailing list to discuss, influence development and stay informed of updates. Please send your feedback to the mailing list or myself, ollieglaskovik[at]gmail[dot]com.

What's New:
New features in this release:
The neural network gives much smoother results using Joone's backprop training algorithm (was using resilient backprop).
The sequence size - length and number of channels - can be changed (use the settings menu).
There's a new multiply morph.

Bug fixes in this release:
Subtract morph works properly.

Requirements:
Java 1.5.
it also requires ChucK - http://chuck.cs.princeton.edu/.
