Boom Recorder is for the sound engineer who wants to replace his tape based systems with a hard disk recorder.
It was specifically designed to record on a film-set or for recording of live-events with many channels in high resolution.
Here are some key features of "Boom Recorder":
16 bit, 24 bit integer and 32 bit float sample formats.
48 kHz, 96 kHz, 192 kHz and other sample rates.
Broadcast WAVE Format (BWF) audio file format; compatible with most digital audio and video editing workstations.
Can either jam or continuous sync against a timecode signal read from any audio channel, or use wall clock time in cases where no timecode signal is available.
Long recordings can be broken up in 2 GB chunks.
multi-polyphonic file handling; allows multiple copies of audio in any combination of mono, stereo and polyphonic audio files.
Stores metadata such as project, scene, take, roll, date and track names.
QuickTime component for reading Boom Recorder's BWF files with timecode into Final Cut Pro.
XML sound reports, can be printed from Safari or Firefox.
Limitations:
30 day trial version. Once you have downloaded Boom Recorder you have a 30 day trial license which is equivalent to the Boom Recorder Pro license level. This will give you time to test the full production flow and decide which of the two license levels below you would like to order:
Boom Recorder Lite: 2 channels (timecode will use 1 channel)
Boom Recorder Pro: 64 channels (timecode will use 1 channel)
Requirements:
Core Audio compatible audio interface.
What's New:
Forgot to rename filename metadata before renaming the filename.
More robust with errors during close.
Added the console log to the incident report.
Remove the incident report window before making the screenshot.
Added extensive logging to the console.
Fixed state change starving when recording on slow media. Anyone experiencing issues where stopping is not possible, please try this version.
Added locking against possible race conditions on state changes.
Sound log is now uneditable.
