Software for the teaching and learning of basic algebra including the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of algebraic terms, order of calculations, simple indices and removal of brackets.
The tutorials include graphics and animation presented in an easy to understand way to help in the understanding of concepts. Includes order of calculations, removal of brackets and simple indices up to the power of 3.
It can generate thousands of sums.
The sums will get progressively more difficult if the user is scoring well. Ideal for improvement through drills. If an answer is wrong, the correct answer is revealed immediately. Sums are marked automatically and a report can be printed after each session.
Here are some key features of "AlgeBasics":
addition and subtraction of algebraic terms
multiplication and division of algebraic terms
removal of brackets
order of calculations
simple indices e.g. 2b2 x 5c x 3b
up to 200 different sums per session
sums get progressively more difficult if a student is doing well.
accepts alternative correct answers, for example: 3 + 4x instead of 4x + 3; 2y - 5yx instead of -5xy + 2y; +1x or +x instead of x, etc. This eliminates marking errors common with other software.
Limitations:
30 sessions demo.
What's New:
New feature allows two players to compete with each other on one computer
Synchronised start for both players
Each player can do the sums at his own pace
Prints two separate detailed reports, each showing the sums done by the individual player
Each report includes the scores of both players and the winner’s name
Other minor improvements.
