CloseDoc is a free system extension that allows you to close OpenDoc documents the way you were used to, i.e. by typing Command-Q (for “Quit”). OpenDoc is a great concept, but the rest of us is still used to the good old world of applications where quitting an application also means closing its documents.

CloseDoc simply turns any Command-Q keystroke that has no menu equivalent into a Command-W keystroke, thus mapping any disallowed Quit attempt into a Close attempt.

Since the Finder has no “Quit” command, and since closing Finder windows via Command-Q doesn’t make much sense, CloseDoc automatically disables itself inside the Finder.

What's New:
Added a preference to disable the startup icon, which can be set by editing the 'PREF' resource with ResEdit using the provided template.
