Language Tutor 1.1 is tutorial software developed by Igor Kanel.
The unique method of word memorization on the basis of
letter tips (prompts) is applied in the program.
Unlike flash cards, the letter tips give rise to a number of
associations and "hooks" for effective memorization.
To not be proofless we shall disassemble work of the program on an example.
Let us assume that you should guess translation of a German word apfel
into English language. If you know a right answer simply enter it.
If you do not know the answer press the button "prompt char". There
will be the first letter. In our case is a letter "a". If you know
answer enter it. If you still doubt press the button "prompt char"
again.
In this game process you should recall plenty of variants of words
that helps you to carry out figurative binding of a word. Furthermore
the training becomes game instead of boring rote.

Furthermore there is one more mode a choice from existing variants.
After you mark a checkbox "show variants" variants of translation of a
word will be given to you. The base of tips is constructed on the
basis of vocabulary database entered by you.
There is a good practice when you keep unknown words in base for their
subsequent learning.
For example, it is very useful to read books in studied language and
meeting unknown words to bring in language tutor base.
Words can be categorized.
Words can appear both in random order (mark checkbox "random") and in
that order in which you entered words in base.
There is the variant of return translation (checkbox "reverse").
