AcroWiki 2.1 is text tools software developed by Acrocat Software.
AcroWiki is a hypertext browsing and authoring system for Palm OS. Instead of organizing your notes in plain text memos you can now use AcroWiki to create hypertext notes with links, fonts, styles. But do not be afraid of complexities of HTML syntax — Wiki syntax is created for humans.

AcroWiki is simple!
It is so simple, that you can learn it in 20 minutes. It is so transparent, that you can read memos in Wiki syntax even without AcroWiki browser, just using your memo pad! Yes, AcroWiki uses databases of standard Palm Memo application to store it’s documents: you can view and edit them both in AcroWiki browser and in MemoPad application. Plus, you can synchronize them with PC and even publish them on the web, using web-based Wiki systems like Twiki.

What is "Wiki"?
AcroWiki derives its name from Hawaiian word "Wikiwiki" which means «fast, speedy, to hurry, hasten, quick, fast, swift». The online hypertext collaboration system with same name was invented around 1995 by Ward Cunningham. The simplicity and the power of the system made it popular and it is currently used by many organizations like SAP, Disney, Motorola. There are numerous implementations in different programming languages.

What is "AcroWiki"?
AcroWiki is yet another implementation of WikiWiki, this time for Palm Pilot. There are several variations of WikiWiki syntax, the one we used is same as in popular engine called "Twiki". One of the main Wiki features is collaboration. Indeed on your Palm you are the only person editing your memos. But you can sync them to your desktop and publish online using one of the other Wiki engines for Web. Even without sharing, we found the Wiki syntax to be so easy to use that it becomes perfect way to keep personal notes.
Here are some key features of "AcroWiki":

  • - Navigation history (back, forward, home)
  • - Search
  • - Quick Goto
  • - Font styles (bold, italic, fixed, etc.)
  • - Links to other Wiki Documents
  • - Links to web documents (http)
  • - Links to mail addresses (mailto)
  • - Colors
  • - Several levels of headings
  • - Numbered lists
  • - Bulleted lists
  • - Verbatim text sections
  • - Horizontal lines
  • - Anchors within text for links to specific positionLimitations:
  • 10 day trial
    What's new in this release:
  • - Single line feed enhancement. AcroWiki follows the TWiki syntax and ignores single line feeds. This can be overridden by using a period as the first character of a line or by entering in %br% anywhere in the text. - Easier to input formatting characters. Now you can use the command bar or menu items to automatically insert the code for bold, italic, fixed width, headings, forced links, 3 spaces, plus sign and underline styles. If text is selected, the style will apply to the selected text, otherwise the code for the style will be entered. - Preference additions. Users now have the ability to set the height of the separators from 0 to 3 pixels, to set the amount of indentation of headings from 0 to 5 pixels, and the amount of spacing between paragraphs from 0 to 10 pixels. - Bullet enhancement. The shape and size of the bullets were improved to be smaller and easier to read. - Long memo bug fixed
